My parents, my sister and I were born and raised in Siena. My father was a notary and in 1972 he bought Il Collewhich has been our holiday home ever since. In the same year the first three hectares of vineyards were planted, which I still look after today. In 1977, my father uncorked the first Brunello in the company of his friends. He managed perfectly well to combine the city rhythms of a notary with his leisure time: sitting on the tractor in the middle of the vineyards and breathing the air of Montalcino. One day, in the plough of that same tractor where he spent his weekends, he found a bronze-coloured object, depicting a greyhound in the shape of a 'C'. C for Carli and for Colle. Since no one could give him any certainty about its provenance, possibly Etruscan, he resigned himself by saying: 'the past may be uncertain, but the future is bright'. So that greyhound has been on our labels ever since.

In 1998, again for fun and with great enthusiasm, he planted the 5 hectares of vineyards at Castelnuovo Dell'Abate of which, unfortunately, he only saw the first harvest. My father would have wanted everything except for me to do this job, which was too closely tied to atmospheric agents, uncontrollable and independent of human action. What he saw as an obstacle, is instead for me freedom; what for him was risk, is for me opportunity; what for him had to be just a hobby, has become the work I am passionate about, thanks also to the guidance of Giulio Gambelli, who has always been at my side, protecting me, with professionalism and competence. A lot of wine has passed through the barrels, and dreams and projects have taken shape, making me more and more convinced that making wine is my true passion. Brunello, Rosso and Come Se del Colle are my 'bright future', which my father envisioned for C.
