ABOUT THE VINE The first documentary source on the origin of Pecorino dates back to the year 1526 and is contained in the Statutes of Norcia (Pg). During the twentieth century, the vine was gradually abandoned to make room for more productive varieties such as Trebbiano. The origin of the name is confused in the mists of popular traditions made up of picturesque more or less plausible stories. We pass from the "grape of the shepherds" as consumed by poor people such as shepherds to the "grape of the sheep" because the flocks, during the transhumance, went crazy for its yellow and very sweet grapes.
