Description

Aleatico Passito dell'Elba docg 2021 – Tenuta La Chiusa The estate overlooks the Gulf of Portoferraio and owes its name to the wall that surrounds it and encloses the 20 hectares of property, mostly planted with vineyards and olive trees. The main activity is the production and sale of traditional Elba wines (white, red, rosé, aleatico) and extra virgin olive oil. The origins date back to the end of the 1500s, with the birth of the cellars and the ancient village. The wall and the patronal villa date back to the early 1800s. La Chiusa also hosted Napoleon Bonaparte on two occasions: the first time immediately after his arrival on the island while he was at anchor waiting to be received with due honors in Portoferraio and subsequently after a hunting trip on Mount Fabbrello. The Aleatico Passito dell'Elba docg 2021 is a natural passito obtained from the aromatic Aleatico vine, native to the island of Elba. Vinified in steel containers at a controlled temperature. Maceration on the skins for about 7 days. The color is a beautiful bright ruby red with violet reflections. The nose has the unmistakable scent of cherry jam, mulberry, blueberries and tea rose. Slightly balsamic and brackish aroma on the finish. On the palate it is sweet but not cloying. Supported by a good freshness and a savory vein in the finish that makes it intriguing, and last but not least by the tannic note that also gives a good structure and a long persistence. The classic pairing is with the Schiaccia briaca from Elba, but it can also be paired with blackberry or plum tarts and blue cheeses, superb when paired with dark chocolate.
