Description
Simply the Barolo di Serralunga at the peak of its potential. Barolo DOCG Vigna Rionda Riserva is the wine we are most proud of. Protagonist of the history of our company, Vigna Rionda is one of the most sought after and prestigious crus of our area. We're not just talking about microclimate and soil: something happens on that hill and that something gives life to the Riserva Vigna Rionda, a truly unique wine. Produced with Nebbiolo grapes from our vineyard located in the Me.GA "Vigna Rionda" in Serralunga d'Alba. Altitude: 300 m slm Total area: 3 hectares. Soil type: medium texture. Average age of the vines: up to 50 years. First year of production: 1982. Vinification and ageing: Traditional Barolo with long-lasting fermentation and maceration in oak vats at a temperature of around 30°C; aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for up to 42 months, then refined for up to a further 24 months in the bottle. Notes: The soil and microclimate of this hill make it possible to obtain exceptionally structured and complex wines. The traditional vinification enhances the qualities of this Cru, respecting the natural predisposition to long aging and at the same time emphasizing the elegance and depth that only this vineyard can give us. Tasting characteristics Appearance: deep garnet red. On the nose: it reveals multiple sensations, broad and enveloping, ranging from those of the first years, more on red and floral fruits to the more evolved ones of undergrowth, tobacco, spices that come with ageing. It is a harmony of fascinating facets that are released and slowly evolve in the glass. On the palate: Vigna Rionda is a unique Barolo, it is impossible to contain its description in a few lines and it is hardly comparable to others even in the Serralunga area. It is a wine capable of complexity, longevity and structure merged into an elegance that has no equal. It requires a little patience to express itself at its best and that is why, the only one in our range, it leaves the cellar in its sixth year of aging as a Riserva. It is advisable to decant it and drink it at a temperature of 18-20°C. An ever evolving wine, it is excellent in combination with meat-based dishes, rich in intense and persistent aromas and flavours, with mature cheeses or as a meditation wine, for those who want to enjoy it by relaxing and appreciating all its many qualities in their utmost purity and with due calm.
