The name of the variety derives from the red color of the peduncle, i.e. the base of the stalk. It is obtained from the red vinification of selected grapes, with the skins fermented with the must in special steel containers. Intense red in colour, it has pleasant aromas of cherry, blackberry and violet, and a full flavour, with a pleasantly harmonious finish. It goes well with game, poultry, and in general with stewed dishes of the typical regional cuisine.
