Rosso del Postiglione was produced on a bet in 1962 by Giampaolo Perusini – who already then believed in the possibilities of Friulian reds and blends – immediately won the gold medal at the 1st Corno di Rosazzo Wine Show. Today it is re-proposed in the same blend of merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Passed in French oak barriques and with the same label depicting the Postiglione di Fernet chosen by Giampaolo Perusini - a great horse lover - in 1962.
Rosso del Postiglione DOC is a Friulian red wine, produced by the Perusini farm, located in Corno di Rosazzo in the province of Udine, on the eastern Friulian hills; born out of a bet from Giampaolo Perusini in 1962 who believed in the potential of Friulian blends. The grapes that give rise to this wine are 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Refosco. The vinification takes place in steel with selected yeasts, followed by 12 months of aging in French oak barriques.
