Geneva 2018 – Elba Rosso Doc – Tenuta La ChiusaThe estate overlooks the Gulf of Portoferraio and owes its name to the wall that surrounds it and encloses the 20 hectares of property, most of which are planted with vineyards and olive trees. The main activity is the production and sale of traditional Elba wines (white, red, rosé, aleatico) and extra virgin olive oil.The origins date back to the end of the 1500s, with the birth of the cellars and the ancient village. The wall and the patronal villa date back to the early 1800s. La Chiusa also hosted Napoleon Bonaparte on two occasions: the first time immediately after his arrival on the island while he was at anchor waiting to be received with due honors in Portoferraio and subsequently after a hunting trip on Mount Fabbrello.Geneva 2018 – Elba Rosso Doc – Tenuta La Chiusa is obtained from Sangiovese (60%) and Merlot (40%) grapes born on clayey-ferrous soils on a flat land. On the nose the first aromas that are felt are of spices and a light vanilla note, then a bouquet of red fruit and licorice opens up. The taste is harmonic, balanced, soft with a good tannic structure and a slight mineral flavor on the finish. Perfect with roasted game, earthen first courses, aged cheeses.
