Subsequently it grew to have a private pier for the unloading and transport of whisky. Thanks to its international success, it managed to overcome the periods of crisis in the sector, also benefiting from a restructuring in the 1970s.The bottlings produced are very varied and have different levels of peating: from the gentler Moch much liked by international reviewers, to the classic 12 year old, passing through the more robust 18 year old and concluding with the sumptuous 25 year old.On the nose, Caol Ila 12 years has a delicate hint of peat and a notable salty hint. It is also possible to glimpse tobacco, a hint of pepper, honey and even dark chocolate. On the palate, however, it is a whiskey deeply rich in sweet notes, smoked peat, fruit (mainly ripe pears and apples), honey and a hint of vanilla.
