Villamagna Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC 2019 - Piandimare

A wine that has been in the pipeline for a long time. Since at least 2011, the year of creation of the Villamagna Doc, but only now the work carried out in the vineyard and in the cellar has been considered congruent with the set goal, that is to ennoble as much as possible the excellence that the territory of Villamagna can give to Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes. The rest was done by the winery, over the years carrying out a meticulous work alongside the contributing members in order to help them achieve all the standards of certified organic production in parallel with the planting of Montepulciano deriving from mass selection, where it was necessary to replace the old plants. The wine, once again entrusted to the interpretation of the oenologist Romeo Taraborrelli, is expressed once in the glass with the classic aroma of ripe cherries accompanied by an underlying spicy profile that makes the sip intriguing. Then we find notes of blueberry, cocoa, vanilla and tobacco. With this new red that joins the classic line, Piandimare demonstrates once again how the consistency of Montepulciano tannins can be enhanced in a context of body and structure, while also expressing a marked elegance. A path traced by many Abruzzo wineries following the philosophical and technological renewal brought to the world of local winemaking. But a path that Piandimare has decided to take on the inspiration of sustainability and orientation to international markets.
