Terra di Lavoro 2020 Jeroboam - Galardi
The potential of the volcanic soil sloping down towards the sea and the meeting with Riccardo Cotarella, a winemaker of great value particularly sensitive to the recovery and enhancement of Southern wines, led to the birth, in 1994, of a product that aroused incredible emotion in everyone . With a calibrated blend of Aglianico and Piedirosso, also known as "Pere 'e Palummo" obtained from vineyards facing South West, between four hundred and five hundred meters on the enchanting gulf of Gaeta, the "Terra di Lavoro", a wine of great structure, suitably aged in small oak barrels.
TERRA DI LAVORO \ n2017 \ nThe unexpected unexpected. \ nWe have already said several times that the 2017 vintage was for Galardi one of the most beautiful vintages in its history. That it was so in substance as well as in appearance we expressed it with the birth of a new wine more than twenty years after the first. \ nWhat we expected great things from Terra di Lavoro 2017 was certainly a legitimate claim. The richness and complexity that we have found in this 2017 vintage are, in truth, surprising. \ nWe would say that the color is the classic one of Terra di Lavoro: ruby, intense, impenetrable. And it is true. But omitting the present shades of plum, Pompeian, chestnut, crimson, carmine, purple, would be to misrepresent the real complexity and depth of the color. \ nSure the nose is as usual intense, layered and persistent. But such a fresh note of a floral poutpourri of red geranium and rose petals and more exotic and mysterious flowers is undoubtedly a surprise. A second lunge of the nose takes us into territories traveled several times, warmer, with airs imbued with balsamic notes of vegetable resin and wild mint. Scattered clouds of smoky sensations spiced with black pepper berries are now on the horizon, now above us. \ nWe can't resist any longer and let's try a little sip. The tongue is quickly dried by silky tannins and a pleasant acidity. The taste is warm, complex and very long persistence. \ nThe aromatic notes encountered on the nose return to the nose. The wine opens gradually in the glass and we feel jasmine grafts, and then darker sensations and we recognize black berries, blackberries and blueberries. Then even more intense, leather, coffee powder, licorice, the reassuring graphite ... \ nWe were about to leave out its imperious vinous note, to be drunk. Let's not forget that it is a Work Land!
