Barbaresco from the Massolino winery is a Piedmontese expression of one of the most famous territories in the world for the vinification of important reds. This label is made with carefully selected pure Nebbiolo grapes and aged in Slavonian oak barrels for at least 18 months. The ruby red color with garnet reflections introduces aromas of flowers and red fruits while a balanced and long sip floods the palate
The Massolino Vigna Rionda farm is located in Serralunga d'Alba, the land of choice for Barolo (and not only!) and has been producing wine since 1896. Dream of great-grandfather Giovanni, he started the business with what, at the time, was the classic peasant reality of the Langa: production of fruit and vegetables, livestock breeding and wine production. Still a family business today, the Massolinos have reached the third and fourth generation of producers of splendid wines, not only in the Barolo area but, since 2019, also in the Barbaresco area. “The Crus are the demonstration of the richness given by the diversity and uniqueness of each hill in the Langa. By vinifying the grapes separately, we enhance the extraordinary characteristics of five historic and highly prestigious vineyards: Vigna Rionda, Margheria, Parafada, Parussi and Albesani”. Barbaresco DOCG is produced from grapes from suitable vineyards in medium-textured soils. Traditional style Barbaresco, with medium duration fermentation and maceration and temperatures around 30°C. The refinement lasts about 18 months and takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels, as per tradition. Then follows a further rest in the bottle. The Barbaresco area offers a very particular expression of Nebbiolo, of "exceptional balance and finesse, delicate and elegant. A very persuasive and charming expression”. In the glass it has a beautiful medium intense garnet red. Seductive floral notes emerge on the nose, accompanied by hints of red fruit that give the glass a very specific identity; “we are faced with gentler and more delicate wines than our Barolos, but with an incredible charm”. On the palate it denotes great harmony and balance, with well-smoothed tannins and calibrated acidity.
