Description
Massolino's Barolo Parafada is an expression of the homonymous Cru of Serralunga d'Alba. The Cru of 1.13 hectares of property is located at an altitude of 330 meters on calcareous-marly soils with the presence of sand. The yield is around 45 q/Ha, the grapes are harvested in the second half of October. In the cellar the vinification takes place with fermentation and maceration of 15-20 days at a variable temperature between 31 and 33 ° C, it is aged for 30 months in oak barrels for a total of years and then rests for a year in the bottle. The history of the Massolinos and their wine have been intertwined with the history of Serralunga d'Alba since 1896, when Giovanni founded the company. Giovanni was the first person to bring electricity to the town. An enterprising, tenacious and creative man, he is the progenitor of a family that has made the combination of research and tradition a distinctive trait. The first Massolino cellar was built by Giuseppe, son of Giovanni, who, together with his sister Angela, extended the company with the purchase of new land and, in 1934, was one of the founders of the Consortium for the Defense of Barolo and Barbaresco . At that time, Joseph had six children. Three of them, Giovanni, Camilla and Renato, followed in their father's footsteps, expanding the company with the purchase of cru vineyards that are authentic jewels: Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda. In the 1990s, Franco and Roberto, both winemakers, joined the family estate. Their work condenses the experience of an entire family and the ambition of a new generation, determined to make an important contribution to the innovation of winemaking and agronomic techniques and to the image of the estate in Italy and abroad.
