Description
TASTING CHARACTERISTICS Appearance: intense garnet red. Nose: ethereal and enveloping aroma with intense and persistent notes of sweet spices, sandalwood, tobacco and leather. On the palate: structured and powerful, it shows, in the first years of life, a remarkable austerity that fades over time. The very dense and robust tannins certainly make it long-lived. The very long finish highlights the character of Castiglione Falletto. It is advisable to decant it and serve it at a temperature of 18-20°C. Parussi is the first Barolo in the company's history born outside the "serralunghesi" borders, in another very local area: that of Castiglione Falletto. The traditional vinification and aging that it shares with the "brothers" of Serralunga d'Alba enhance the well-known ability of the Nebbiolo grape to give different expressions with variations, albeit minimal, of the microclimate and the soil in which it is grown. Perfect in combination with rich Piedmontese dishes, stewed meats and medium and long-aged cheeses. Barolo Docg Parussi Produced with Nebbiolo grapes from the vineyard located in the Me.GA "Parussi" (sheet n. 2, parcels n. 342, 108, 268) in Castiglione Falletto. Altitude: 300 m slm Total area: 1.3 hectares. Soil type: sandy clayey limestone. Training system and planting density: Traditional Guyot with around 5,000 vines per hectare. Yield per hectare: 45 quintals. Average age of the vines: 40 years. Harvest: manual, carried out in the second half of October. First year of production: 2007. Vinification and ageing: Traditional Barolo with fermentation and maceration for 15-20 days at a temperature of 31-33°C; aged in oak barrels for about 30 months and refined in the bottle for at least one year in special cool and dark rooms. Notes: the excellent SOUTH-EAST/SOUTH-WEST exposure of the vineyard, located on the top of the hill in the Parussi sub-zone, guarantees the production of grapes of extraordinary quality. The soil, very calcareous, gives the wine a decisive and austere character, with very robust tannins.
