Gattinara Riserva DOCG 2016 - Travaglini
Gattinara Riserva is a robust and very intense red wine, aged for 36 months in oak barrels. With an intense garnet color, the nose is elegant, with notes of rose jam, berries, spices and mineral nuances. In the mouth it is full, structured, but always fresh, with compact tannins and a long persistence of jams and spices
Gattinara Riserva by Travaglini is a red based on 100% Nebbiolo, produced in Upper Piedmont. In this territory of ancient volcanic origin, with soils rich in minerals and iron, the noble Piedmontese vine expresses itself with wines of great finesse and elegance, with floral and fruity aromas, spicy and mineral scents. It is a label of excellence, which is produced only in the best vintages and has an excellent propensity for aging. The red Gattinara Riserva is produced from vineyards grown at an altitude of 320-420 metres, with beautiful sunny south-south-west exposure. The training system is simple guyot, with a planting density of 3500-5000 vines per hectare and yields of less than 65 quintals per hectare. The soils are rocky, reddish in color due to the presence of iron mineral salts. The climate of the area, cool and windy, favors a slow ripening of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for about 2 weeks. The wine matures for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels, partly in smaller woods and completes the refinement with another 8 months in the bottle before being marketed.
