The Colonia vineyard takes its name from a heliotherapic colony, the vineyard is a project of the Poggiali family and was born from the hard work of replanting started in 1966 by grandfather Domenico and his son Giuseppe until the 70s, a project abandoned in the mid-80s due to excessive difficulties in the burglary and taken over by his nephew Giovanni in 1991. The three Poggiali generations join forces and finally manage to plant the cuttings in 1993. After planting the vineyard, the following year grandfather Domenico dies, leaving a symbolic for all and a handover between generations. The first harvest began in 1997, the first vintage was bottled only in 2006, free from any classification due to a coincidence that makes it even more unique, Chianti Classico already from the following vintage. The production is limited to 3000 bottles, numbered, reserved for true lovers of Sangiovese and with a special dedication from Giovanni to his grandfather Domenico. The vineyard has medium-textured reddish-brown soils, rich in magnesium and iron on alberese sandstone and calcareous marl, different from any other in Fèlsina.
