Description

Denomination: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Protected Designation of Origin. Grapes: Montepulciano 100 %. Production area: Morro d' Oro, Teramo. Altitude: 210 m a.s.l. Soil: medium mixture. Vineyard: Row, simple guyot. Harvest: Manual harvesting, last ten days of October after grape selection in the vineyard. Vinification: After destemming, the crushed grapes are transferred to vitrified cement vats. Fermentation takes place in contact with the skins at a temperature of 30 °C, not above, to aid extraction. During fermentation and afterwards, for about ten days, the mass is moved, which favours liquid (must/wine) solid (skins) contact. This expands and defines the structure of the finished wine, which is intensified by maturation first in steel, then in tonneaux for about six to eight months and bottle ageing for about six months. Tasting notes: red colour with brilliant violet hues, intense and persistent aromas of undergrowth, slightly astringent, important body. Food & Wine: wine for important first courses and roasts. We particularly recommend pairing it with the following typical dish: timballo. First year of production: 2014 Alcoholic strength: 14.00 %Vol Format: Litres 0.75 The label: from the earliest times, the oak was considered a sacred tree and oracle. Its cult dates back to the prehistory of Roman, Greek and Celtic civilisations. It was such a favourite tree of the gods and men that keeping a chip of this wood was thought to preserve them from misfortune. This belief goes all the way back to our recent past, when in Abruzzo people used to gather oak leaves on which lightning had fallen to entrust to poor recruits leaving for war. It was thought that thanks to this talisman, soldiers could not be hit by bullets, and this was based on the belief that where lightning had fallen once, it would never fall again.
