Cantalupi Negroamaro is produced in Salice Salentino in the province of Lecce in the historic Conti Zecca winery; it is in fact since 1580 that the Zecca family, after moving from Naples to Leverano in Salento, produces wine and fine grapes. Both international and autochthonous vines are grown in the company and as regards the latter there is a particular reference to Negroamaro, a typical native vine of the north of Salento and known since Roman times. The grapes of the Cantalupi Negroamaro wine come mainly from crops that are located on a medium-textured alluvial soil with areas that tend towards limestone; 85% of the wine is made from Negroamaro grapes while the remaining 15% from other recommended grape varieties. Cantalupi Negroamaro is a still wine that can be enjoyed on any occasion (both with family and friends) preferably at least 12 months after bottling; in order to enhance all its characteristics, it is advisable to open the bottle and air it for at least 2 hours before starting the tasting.
