The Salento Cantalupi Primitivo PGI Conti Zecca represents the best expression of this corner of Puglia, which has always had a wine vocation, as does the Conti Zecca company, a historic reality in the area since the end of the 1500s. It currently boasts four estates in Leverano, in the province of Lecce, where native grapes are grown and in particular Negroamaro, Malvasia, Fiano and Primitivo that give life to prestigious Blends and Monovitigni that make up the wine list of this company. In the Monovitigni, in particular, the strength and character of this land are expressed in all their energy as in the case of the Salento Cantalupi Primitivo PGI Conti Zecca wine, produced with 100% Primitivo grapes and the result of an alluvial soil with limestone formations that they give the grape the right amount of mineral salts, acidity and sugars. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, while the maturation continues in oak barrels. The result is a wine with an intense red color and a velvety and well-structured flavor. The tannins are smoothed to the right point, there is structure, strength, intensity and a remarkable softness, typical of the primitive.
