PRODUCTION AREA Located in the heart of the Municipality of Barbaresco, the Camp Gros vineyard is part of Martinenga and is located east of the amphitheater. South / west exposure and altitude ranging from 240m to 290m above sea level

VARIETY Nebbiolo 100%

TYPE OF SOIL The soil is calcareous, characterized almost entirely by marly layers with little sand and the soils have an important percentage of fine sediments, silt and clay.

VINIFICATION The grapes, already selected in the vineyard, are further selected by hand using a sorting belt, de-stemmed, crushed, pumped into the stainless steel fermentation tanks. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with the cap emerged at a controlled temperature of around 26 °, carrying out periodic pumping over and delestage. At the end of fermentation the maceration continues with the cap submerged for a period that varies from 25 to 45 days in relation to the vintage. The malolactic fermentation starts spontaneously in concrete tanks at a temperature of 20 °.

COLOR Ruby with a slight garnet edge.

BOUQUET It possesses a full fruit, a note of dried violets and a balsamic nuance of mint and cardamom which will prove to be a bit the tone of the wine.

PAIRINGS To combine with classic Piedmontese menus, from the fassone to the knife, passing through the ravioli and finding its ideal marriage with a nice mixed boiled meat. Also excellent with important aged cheeses.

TASTE The palate is barely in debt for articulation, but makes up for it with a very fine tannin and a development of enviable homogeneity, the finish is floral, with notes of violets and rhubarb. Very stylish. It is already drunk with great pleasure.

NOTES Martinenga: located in the heart of the municipality of Barbaresco, the vineyard covers 25 hectares, of which 12 are located in a splendid natural amphitheater facing south. The microclimatic complexity and the particular conformation of the soil give the wines an unparalleled harmony and elegance, even in the most difficult vintages. Thanks to an extraordinarily multiform terroir and the sensitivity of Nebbiolo, the company has supported the natural diversity within the vineyard by identifying two further selections: Gaiun and Camp Gros, which from the opposite ends of the amphitheater give life to the highest expressions of Martinenga. Camp Gros is the flagship of the winery, it has been produced since 1978 only in the best vintages and is a selection that concerns a small part of the Martinenga vineyard towards Rabajà, its extension is about 2.5 hectares. It is located in the extreme east of the vineyard, and has a hilly position with an altitude of around 250 meters above sea level, with a south-west exposure. Here there is the best in terms of exposure, microclimate and soil, factors of utmost importance that are transferred to the wine, giving a product that sums up all the characteristics of a great Barbaresco, at the apex of complexity and harmony.

AGING Aging for about a year in French oak barriques (new and old) and then in Slavonian oak barrels for about a year and a half. Subsequently, bottling and aging for a further two years in glass.
