Northern Piedmont has been deprived of its only white grape variety: White grape variety as per the Production Regulations or Greco, as it was commonly called. The first was given in exclusive use to the Caluso area, while Greco defines certain white grapes of southern Italy. Thus, although it is the only variety that the winery can use to have the DOC appellation, it is not allowed to name it on the label; hence the name Erbavoglio. It is considered the "reddest of white wines" in terms of aromas and flavors of particular strength and intensity. The first traces of white grape variety as per the Production Regulations date back to 1600; Colline Novaresi is one of the three DOC where it grows. ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS: Colour: pale straw yellow with greenish reflections Bouquet: fruity, fragrant, with hints of lemon grass Taste: fresh and pleasant, dry, savoury, slight acidic note with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste
