The history of Tomintoul is relatively short but not without interest, it was built in 1965 by 2 Scottish companies, Hay & MacLeod and W. & S. Strong to supply single malts for blended whiskies, in 1973 it passed to Whyte & Mackay to which it remained until 2000 when, due to financial problems, the distillery was sold to Angus Dundee. Unlike in the past, today Tomintoul continues to supply whiskey for the blend but with a portion of single malt which is bottled under its own brand.
The Tomintoul 15 Years Old with a Peaty Tang is a peated single malt Scotch whiskey aged for 15 years in a mix of oak casks before being bottled at 40% ABV.
