Description
The vine is a close relative of Dolcetto, from which it differs in the red stem, the smaller bunch and the thicker skin, but Ormeasco offers sweeter tannins and a longer life than its cousin Dolcetto. It can reach the word Superiore if aged for one year and with a minimum natural alcohol content of 12.5% vol. On the contrary it can be vinified partially in white, reaching a pink color as for the Ormeasco Sciac-trà (in Ligurian dialect it literally crushes and pulls). Characteristics Appearance is clear, with a very intense garnet colour. The nose is intense, persistent and fine, with hints of ripe blueberry and cherry, wrapped in a woody note. Dry, sufficiently fresh, savoury, warm, slightly tannic, full and persistent flavour. The aftertaste, the fruity aroma and the pleasant tannins stand out. Of excellent typicality and harmony. Grape variety and production area It is produced with Ormeasco grapes harvested in the vineyards of Ranzo, Armo and Ligassorio. Type of training Spurred cordon, sapling.
