Austere and broad red, the Harimann is the spearhead of the Pasetti company. An extreme version of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, this wine offers unique sensations to those who taste it. Also perfect on its own, as a meditation wine.
PRODUCTION AREA: The vineyards extend in the Municipality of Pescosansonesco at the foot of the central massif of Gran Sasso at 550 m slm within the National Park. The vineyard is a marquee of only 2 hectares over 60 years old with a low yield of 80 q/ha. The soil is characterized by a clayey-limestone matrix, rich in organic matter. CHARACTERISTICS: Montepulciano is an autochthonous variety from Abruzzo: it prefers clayey soils, tolerates drought well and ripens late. The concentration of anthocyanins is among the highest in the world. Rich in tannins, it can be astringent especially if drunk young. The notes of red fruits surprise with their intensity. WINE VINEYARD 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, density of 1600 vines/ha, yield of 80 q/ha, manual harvesting in boxes in the first ten days of November. VINIFICATION In red: maceration and fermentation in steel for 16 - 18 days with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature of 22 - 24 °C. 10 days of post-fermentation maceration. Spontaneous MLF. AGING In cement tanks, 24 months in first passage French oak barriques. Subsequent long aging in the bottle. To be kept at 14 - 16 °C and preferably consumed within 15 years of the harvest. SENSORY ANALYSIS Deep ruby red, consistent. Intense, complex and elegant bouquet of ripe red fruit, cherry in alcohol, violet. Tertiary aromas of hazelnuts, pepper, coffee. Soft wine, balanced by excellent acidity, persistent, with elegant tannins, robust and powerful.
