Kapnios Aglianico Beneventano IGT is an interesting label proposed by the Campania winery Masseria Frattasi, an important production pearl that offers organic terroir wines. Mentioned by the ancient Greek playwright Plato the Comedian, this red has a name that derives from the Greek term smoked. A denomination that is not accidental, given that the wine is obtained by drying the grapes which gives it a smoky flavour.

NOTES Kapnios, a wine mentioned by Plato (Athenaeum I) and by Pliny (Naturalis Historia) is the first amarone, in the sense of withered and dry wine, in history. The Greek name capnios derives from smoked. The vine from which the Samnites obtained these wines was also caburnica, the modern cabernet, already present in Campania three millennia ago. The drying of the grapes in the sun produces the smoky flavor, hence the Greek name.
AGING Aging in new French oak barriques for 18 months and long aging in the bottle.
