It is mainly produced with Montepulciano and Aglianico grapes, harvested by hand towards the end of October. The vinification takes place in the traditional way, with maceration on the skins for about 1 month and malolactic fermentation. Subsequently the wine is aged partly in barrique and partly in steel tanks, resting for a further 6 months in the bottle before being placed on the market.
Ramitello belongs to the DOC Biferno Rosso. It is a red with good character, produced by the Di Majo Norante winery in Pesaro. The grapes, 80% Montepulciano and Aglianico for the remainder, come from the company's vineyards of Contrada Ramitello Spoltore, where the soils are clayey and slowly degrade towards the sea, inhaling the breeze and scents of the Molise Mediterranean scrub. Here the plants are in full vigor, having an average age of about 10 years. After racking, the maturation phase is carried out partly in barrique and partly in steel tanks. After blending, the wine is bottled and left in the cellar for a phase of refinement in glass for a further 6 months before being placed on the market. Intense ruby red with violet reflections, the nose opens with an intense bouquet, where hints of plum stand out, with spicy notes reminiscent of leather and licorice. In the mouth it is full, pleasantly soft and velvety, with a perfectly balanced body. Perfect with dishes rich in flavor, especially white and red meats, it is also ideal when cooking game or when lunch or dinner ends with a flake of aged cheese.
