Il Il Colle 's Rosso di Montalcino is a pure, fresh, full-bodied wine, with a young but pleasant tannin, certainly destined to improve over time, but immediately appreciable. Il Colle is located in the northern quadrant of Montalcino, on the road that leads to Torrenieri, but part of the vineyards are also in the southern area of Montalcino, not far from Castelnuovo dell'Abate for a total of 7 hectares of vineyards. The company was founded in 1972 with Alberto Carli who bought it from the Galsassi family and wanted Giulio Gambelli , master taster and undisputed Sangiovese expert, as a consultant. Today at the helm of Il Colle there is Alberto's daughter, Caterina Carli who produces the wines according to the indications of the late Giulio. At Il Colle we work in the most natural way possible, the grape production is 40/50 quintals per hectare, in the cellar the wine ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts, long maceration times, no filtering and aging in barrels of Slavonian oak.
