The Tenuta Lenzini extends for 24 hectares in the town of Gragnano in the splendid Lucca hills, set in a natural amphitheater that frames it, determining its particular microclimate.
Composed of 13 hectares of vineyards and 4 of olive groves, the property dates back to the 16th century. The property of the Arnolfini spouses, the famous spouses portrayed by Van Eyck in the work exhibited in the British Museum in London, was from the outset the production hub for wine and oil in this part of the plain.
The Via Francigena also passed here; the Napoleonic troops and the Bonapartes themselves walked in these places that we now cultivate; and this is one of the reasons, in addition to the undeniable international vocation of our terroir, for which we have chosen to plant merlot, cabernet sauvignon, syrah, alicante bouschet, respecting the choices made by those before us who had taken care of this wonderful amphitheater .
We all owe the beginning of our personal story to grandfather Franco, Franco Lenzini, he was the one who managed to see further than the others, betting on the rebirth of a place left to total abandonment; restructuring it, until it becomes even more fascinating.
In fact, in this land it is easy to get lost in the breath of a time that was; it's easy at sunset to find yourself listening to a silence that has no age, but which instead has a great memory.
Today, I, Benedetta, Franco's niece, are at the helm of the company.
Together with my husband Michele Guarino, we strive every day to create expressive wines, wines in which the impact of man becomes non-existent, and where nature takes shape and substance.
In fact, with us since 2007 the company has undergone a profound change: first the organic management, then the inevitable transition to the biodynamic philosophy.
Inevitable, because our interest in a living, vital land, capable of bearing intense fruit, with a great expressive capacity becomes inevitable... and all without the aid of chemistry, of artifices.
There are aromatic nuances that you don't expect; sensory alchemies that can only be explained by rediscovering the expressiveness of nature, the origins of a territory.
We in this territory breathe and work.
It is in these fields that we produce our wines; expressive, territorial, true and unique wines, marked by evolution over time, and marked by a cheeky immediacy.
Grape=Wine: this is the mathematical formula, the equality from which we start to describe our creations; live, intense fruits, able to bring us back, in any place and at any time, to the sunny days of September, in the rows, in the harvest; wines in which nature takes shape and substance, and where the impact of man becomes non-existent.
This must be wine: reality, truth... not the pure exercise of style of an oenologist, but the projection of a territory, of the people who work and inhabit it; we "walk" our vineyards, we love them and we love each other.
This is why we don't distort what they give us, but we do our utmost to preserve their authenticity, their natural expression: because the warmth, color and richness of a wine are to be found first of all in the countryside and not in the cellar.
First there is the seed, then the fruit, then the hands that pick it; and above all, the passion and love for the land..
This is our "reasoned viticulture", this is our "emotional oenology"; the encounter between heart and mind, between passion and truth; between man and nature. Every story has its beginning… and this is our story.
