Today
Today, the wine cellar Girlan has 200 winegrowing members, spread over a vineyard cultivation area of 220 hectares, in the best production areas of the Oltradige and Bassa Atesina.
The wines are among the most awarded in the region and available in over 30 states.
2016
A new building was added to the old building, which cleverly takes up the lines of the old façades and, compared to the older buildings, has an architectural language that is as discreet as it is contemporary.
For the renovation of the wine shop, a room with historic vaults was enhanced, and an old, newly rediscovered staircase leading to the wine cellar was restored and fitted out.
2012
After years of research and several microvinification trials, oenologist Gerhard Kofler recognises the unique potential of the "Ganger" vineyard in Mazzon and produces "Vigna Ganger Mazon Pinot Noir Riserva" for the first time.
1980 - 1975 - 1961
1980 - The winery Girlan concentrates more and more on the Pinot Noir grape variety and launches the Trattmannhof Mazon Pinot Noir for the first time.
1975 - Pioneer Hartmuth Spitaler recognises the unique potential of the Gschleier sub-zone and produces a Vernatsch exclusively from this sub-zone for the first time. In addition, a close collaboration is established with the artist Paul Flora regarding label design.
1961 - In honour of the 950th anniversary of the town of Villach (Austria), the oenologist Valentin Spitaler bottles a selection of the best Vernatsch grapes and gives it the name of the container in which the wine matures for months: Fass Nr. 9 (cask No. 9).
1923
The wine cellar Girlan was established in 1923 on a historic 16th century farm. At that time, 23 winegrowers laid the foundation stone of what would later become the present company. The founding president was Johann Kofler Krautschneider.
