The Castle of Brolio: symbolic place of the Chianti Classico territory
Ricasoli is the most representative winery in the Chianti Classico territory. Amidst gentle hills, velvety valleys and dense oak and chestnut woods, the 1200 hectares of the estate comprise approximately 240 hectares of vineyards and 26 of olive groves, in a continuous succession of colours and shades around the Castello di Brolio, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti.
In this most central part of Tuscany, since 1993 Baron Francesco Ricasoli has been leading the winery towards new challenges, in the deepest respect of his illustrious ancestors who made this territory great, first and foremost Bettino Ricasoli.
Francesco Ricasoli, the current owner and President, has come up with new ideas and new concepts for living the vineyards in a sustainable manner: the continuous study of the soils and the clonal selection of Sangiovese di Brolio are among his greatest passions, so much so that he has wanted to totally renew the vineyards and define their complete mapping.
The new labels are, therefore, the expression of so much research conducted with the same scientific rigour as the great ancestor but with the contemporary spirit of one who picks up the baton and carries it forward with new energy.
