The surface of the estate covers a total of 300 hectares. Starting from an altitude of around 150 meters slm there are 30 hectares of red grape vineyards. The Merlot vineyards were planted on soils rich in pebbles, which were the bed of a branch of the Adige, while the Cabernet Sauvignon and the ancient Carmenère vineyards are predominantly on sandy soil. All low-fertility, well-drained soils from which grapes are grown which, once made into wine, guarantee a truly unusual quantity of anthocyanins, not only for Trentino. In 2015 San Leonardo began the process of converting to organic farming which was successfully concluded at the end of 2018, obtaining certification. In the same year the estate was certified biodiversity-friendly by the BWA Friends of Biodiversity association. This is evidence of San Leonardo 's great commitment to preserving its territory.
