Liberoarbitrio 2020 - Mccalin

The Liberoarbitrio of the McCalin winery is a rosé wine vinified with local black berried grapes in purity. Federico Nardi - founder and current vigneron of the McCalin winery - gave life to his project in 2015, when he bought a small estate near Martinsicuro, in the province of Teramo. Initially, wine production was seen by Federico only as a hobby, but over time it has turned into a real lifestyle. The 7 crus of the winery extend over about two hectares of land and rest on a terroir composed mainly of a clay subsoil. Right from the start the vines were grown organically, to guarantee a genuine product that could faithfully bring back all those territorial scents typical of the area's grapes even inside the glass. Therefore, no chemical additives such as herbicides and fertilizers are used and no clarification or filtration processes are carried out before bottling. The wine is produced with 100% local red berried grapes, harvested and destemmed manually. The vinification takes place through the bleeding technique, which consists in taking a quantity of must from the maceration tank where a red wine is being vinified. The must macerates on the skins for between 6 and 20 hours, fermenting naturally and without temperature control. It matures in steel for about 9 months. This red wine from the McCalin winery has an intense rosé color in the glass. It has a rather intense bouquet composed of hints of various red fruits with black berries, plums, violets and on the finish black pepper and licorice. Finally, when tasted, it reveals full-bodied and slightly tannic, typical peculiarities of the blend of origin. Liberoarbitrio is ideal in combination with appetizers and appetizers based on white meats or fatty fish.
