The foxtail finds its ideal habitat in the hills and mountains of Irpinia, and reaches peaks of excellence in the Castelfranci area and in the Perillo Winery, with a production of less than a thousand bottles obtained from just 60 pre-filossera rows. 2017 is a real treat for connoisseurs, with disarming notes of iodine, then of fruit, such as pear, and a refreshing hint of lemongrass. The gustatory texture of marked acidity brings freshness and longevity to the wine.
Name : Coda di Volpe Company : Cantina Perillo Year : 2017 Region : Campania - Irpinia Type : White Grapes : Coda di Volpe 100% Color : Lively straw yellow with golden reflections Bouquet : Fruity notes of yellow pulp and citrine, iodized, intense Taste : Fresh, intense, Alcohol : 14% Serving temperature : 10 -12 ° C Coda di volpe is one of the white grape varieties that enjoy a very special charm, for several reasons, starting with its name. The characteristic shape of the tight, elongated and tapered cluster makes it resemble the tail of the fox which - among the hills and mountains of Irpinia - finds the ideal habitat to live and multiply, as well as the foxtail grape which - on medium altitude hills with good sun exposure - it gives its best. An ancient vine which under the Latin form "Cauda Vulpium" was already present in the encyclopedic naturalistic treatise "Naturalis Historia" written by Pliny the Elder.
