NOTES Intended as the current typology, it was born in 1606, when the city of Vittoria was founded by its founder Vittoria Colonna Henriquez who in fact gave the first 75 colonists in that year a hectare of land on condition that they cultivate another one as a vineyard. Until the end of the 19th century there was an enormous expansion of the vineyards in this area thanks to a policy of incentivizing valuable intensive crops, such as the vine, which enhanced the natural fertility of the soil. It is a red with a strong and ancient tradition, which plays its identity on the combination of the strength of Nero d'Avola which gives acidity and structure (once called Calabrese) and the kindness and fruitiness of Frappato, a vine mainly widespread in the Ragusa area. It is the first and at the moment the only Sicilian DOCG.
AGING After the malolactic fermentation, it is decanted into small barrels of 500 and 225 liters of several passages, where it remains for about a year. Refinement in the bottle for a few months. On the market after March 31 of the second year following the harvest
