POGGIO AMENO, THE MORELLINO THAT ENJOYS THE SOUL Between the Albegna and Ombrone rivers, in southern Tuscany, there is the municipality of Scansano, whose territory is the homeland of Morellino di Scansano, an area particularly suited to the breeding of Sangiovese thanks to the breezes coming from the Tyrrhenian Sea which mitigate the high temperatures summer. Wine with Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin since 2007 is obtained with at least 85% Sangiovese grapes harvested and vinified in the area of origin. Poggio Ameno owes its name to the hill on which it stands, in the Scansano area. In addition to Sangiovese, the Ciliegiolo and Alicante grapes enter its composition.
