The activities of the Dragani Cellars began as far back as A.D 1812. In that year, a document signed by the then burgomaster of Caldari authorised Dragani Emanuele to sell his products in the territory of the same municipality. Already at that time, the Dragani family owned its most renowned agri, such as Selva dei Canonici and Fonte Melata.
The two estates, probably rented from the monks of the Abbey of Frisa, then Lords of the surrounding territory, constituted for decades the Dragani Family's natural reserve, i.e. the places where the wine personally used by the family was produced over the years.Various documents remain as evidence of the activities of the various progenitors in the wine sector: we should mention those declaring the Dragani Family as the official supplier of the Bishop and the Lords of Ortona. After the Second World War, the Dragani family renovated all the vineyards and began marketing throughout Italy, thanks to the work of Gabriele Dragani, who passed away in 1999, an incomparable entrepreneur and a true pioneer of Abruzzi oenology.During the difficult years of reconstruction, Mr. Gabriele built the modern part of the estate, which was built on the site of the former winery.
