A History of Tradition and Passion
The Tenuta Rocca di Fabbri company was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Pietro Vitali , who during his long experience in the world of antiques had grasped the deep connection between artistic beauties, harmony of the landscape and food and wine traditions of the area.
He identified in the Montefalco area, the ancient cradle of vine cultivation and winemaking, practices introduced by the French Benedictines, but then lost after the mid-16th century. Right here he wanted to replant vines with particular cultivation methods, in order to be able to produce wines that had the fragrance of the scents of this land and the elegance of Gozzoli's paintings.
The interior of the Rocca, a 14th century fortification, was restored to create the suggestive cellar, and the buildings within the walls were restructured. A new building outside the walls was used for the winemaking facilities and connected to the cellar by a modern tunnel.
The management of the vineyards and the cellar is now entrusted to the work of the sisters Roberta and Simona Vitali, who grew up in the family business while preserving the wisdom and taste of their predecessors, with sensitivity and elegance right up to the finished product.
The company covers about 60 hectares entirely planted with vineyards in the process of being renovated, now almost completed.
The renewal of the systems is actually a continuous process, which has been more intense in the last 5-8 years; the goal has always been to lay the foundations for the company's future strategy, which focuses heavily on the production of Sagrantino, Montefalco Rosso and Colli Martani Grechetto. The production of Trebbiano Spoletino, already present in the company for some time and widespread in the area, will also resume shortly.
The production is characterized by the Montefalco Sagrantino Docg, in the dry and passito versions, the Montefalco Rosso Doc, Montefalco Rosso Riserva and Grechetto, and within the igt Faroaldo (50% Sagrantino 50% Cabernet Sauvignon) and a pure Chardonnay.
The annual production is around 150,000 bottles.
