Ambassadors of Verdicchio in the world
On the initiative of 19 founding partners, Colonnara was founded in 1959 in Cupramontana, in what has been called the 'Verdicchio capital' of the Castelli di Jesi area.
The historic core of our vineyards is located on the right bank of the Esino river, between the municipalities of Cupramontana, Apiro, Staffolo and San Paolo di Jesi. This particular area of medium-high hills gives the wines a mineral and acidic characteristic, which has proved decisive in the development of our products of excellence.
Starting in the early 1960s and with the recognition of the DOC to Verdicchio
in 1968, we began experimenting with the potential of this grape variety and the ageing possibilities of one of the few Italian whites suited to ageing.
Hand in hand with the gradual expansion of the winery, which now has more than one hundred members and produces all the main regional DOC wines, we have consolidated our expertise in sparkling wines using the Metodo Classico and Martinotti methods, which places us among the reference producers in the Marche region.
Colonnara, passion and expertise of over one hundred winemakers
Discovering Colonnara means first and foremost meeting the stories and faces of the winegrowing members who for decades have cherished the careful and rigorous cultivation of the grapes in the vineyard, then entrusted to the care and experience of our cellarers and oenologists.
Today, there are more than one hundred members who share the spirit and values of Colonnara: a company that lives its time while respecting traditions, that takes its time to age its wines and sparkling wines, that is always ready to welcome those who want to visit and get to know it better.
