The origins of the Pecorino grape are uncertain. It is assumed to be linked to high mountain pastures and to the practice of transhumance. The only evidence of the ancient presence of this vine in the Ascoli lands is represented by a quote from the Roman censor Cato, dating back to the 2nd century BC.

A dry white wine made from native Marche Verdicchio grapes. Its classic area of origin is the Castelli di Jesi - more than ten municipalities located near Jesi, including Cupramontana, the town of our producer. The vineyards are located 360 m above sea level in the area that was once the sea. This version of Verdicchio called Anfora, harvested manually, is one of the main wines of the Colonnara range. The characteristic bottle is closely linked to this great white wine. It was introduced in the 1950s as a result of a competition that took place all over the country to highlight the originality of Verdicchio.
