The terroir at the basis of our wines
The vineyards, located on the hills between Vittorito and Corfinio, enjoy excellent sun exposure, favourable ventilation and a considerable temperature range between day and night. These ideal conditions are due to the proximity of important mountains such as Sirente, Maiella and Morrone and the presence of the Aterno river. These pedoclimatic characteristics positively influence the ripening of the grapes, enhancing their aromatic heritage and maintaining the right acidity.

The soil
The farm soils are rich in skeleton and of medium consistency tending to clay. Rich in organic substances, they give the wines the decisive taste characteristic of medium-high hillside production.
Training system
The winery has long chosen to pay the utmost attention to the care of its vineyards, 90% of which have a spurred cordon and guyot espalier training system. These types of training facilitate cultivation operations and allow the organoleptic qualities of Valle Peligna wines to be enhanced.
Plantings
In the planting of the new vineyards, the Pietrantonj company is implementing a varietal selection programme, starting with the best clones, in order to enhance the many qualities of Abruzzo's native grape varieties. Alongside the recent vineyards, the company retains some old ones (30-35 years old) for the production of special wine selections.
The yield per hectare
By company choice, all grape yields per hectare are well below those required by DOC regulations in order to produce wines of excellent quality.
