Zoning
The Knauf family, German entrepreneurs who have been present in Tuscany for years, conducts a meticulous classification of the land on geological and pedoclimatic bases to identify the plots of Bolgheri most suited to the creation of great wines.
1998
Is born Campo alla Sughera
Next to the bed of the Fossa di Bolgheri, protected by the hills of the hinterland that form a natural barrier to cold currents, Campo alla Sughera was born: 20 hectares in the heart of the Bolgheri appellation, 16.5 of which are planted with vines. The position chosen by the Knauf family is perfect: between the sea and the hills, sand and marl enhance the natural complexity and expressive richness of the area's wines.
2001

2017
A new collaboration
Campo alla Sughera an important collaboration begins with world-renowned oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt.
Towards an absolute dimension of Bolgheri
The choice of location was the result of scrupulous geological and pedoclimatic analyses that made it possible to identify some of the plots most suited to the creation of great wines. Since then, the objective of Campo alla Sughera has been one and the same: to enhance the territory's natural wine vocation through oenological choices of excellence, without making compromises, in search of an absolute Bolgheri dimension.
The properties of the soil are as important in viticulture as they are for us in choosing the location of the chalk quarries. For us Bolgheri was really a stroke of luck!
Isabel Knauf, co-owner and geologist
2017 marks the beginning of our collaboration with the famous oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, with the aim of bringing even more elegance and finesse to our wines. It is a constantly evolving project, in which we put body and soul. At the heart of it all is a highly motivated international team with a great deal of expertise in winemaking. The grapes are processed with the utmost care, to preserve their organoleptic characteristics, the wines are left to mature without time constraints, in total harmony with nature. Our best for wine.
