Beyond the sea
The story begins at the beginning of the twentieth century
When Antonio Argiolas decided to bet on the wines of his land, he only owned a three-hectare farm in Serdiana, a town 20 kilometers from Cagliari. Bequeathed by his father, it was the place where he planted his first vineyard. His idea grew and matured, together with the love for his wife Bonaria and for the family he had created with her. The passion for the land, a legacy of the peasant world in which he grew up but whose boundaries he felt were narrow (delimited by prickly pear hedges that blocked the view of the horizon), has always guided his choices and vision. It has thus resisted the vine eradication campaigns and - while remaining anchored to its island - has often crossed the sea, first to reach the Peninsula, then new continents. Not only with the intention of conquering further markets, but also with the aim of borrowing successful experiences. It was 1979 when Antonio Argiolas , now an established local entrepreneur, went to Argentina and California. These trips were of great inspiration to him, they represented the beginning of a revolution: they showed him how it was necessary to overcome the fragmentation of the countryside, widespread on the island, and to use technologically advanced machines for the processing of larger and more conduit extensions of land. from a single property. This is how he purchased the lands of Selegas-Sa Tanca and Sisini, the largest estates in the winery. These are the places that Argiolas wines talk about, emblems of the strength, courage and foresight of the idea.
From their great old man, a monument to an extraordinary entrepreneurial history, they wanted to gather the stubbornness and sense of challenge with the world, the simple and authentic joy of the harvests and pressing, the passion that comes from the bubbling musts and the effervescent new wines, the personality which defines the wines as tenacious and mature, soft like the limestone in which their roots sink, fragrant and tasty like the sea, long-lived like the Sardinians.
